The Evolution of Our Kitchen!

Ever since George and I have been together, I couldn't wait to become homeowners! An added plus on being with him, is his mad carpentry skills. :) We bought our little house in February 2010 and didn't wait long to dive into the improvements!

Our kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house! It has a sliding patio door facing north which gets an amazing amount of natural light and it had plenty of counter space! The only problem, it was blue and white! Not exactly my colors!

This is what our kitchen looked like the day we moved in.

Our vision for this kitchen evlolved over time, first we replaced the blue countertops with a warm earthtone design. There were also some blue tiles above the cabinets that we spray painted bronze and changed all the door pulls from white to coppery bronze.

A few months after the tiles and the countertops, we thought the white was a bit stale. We decided to painted a pale wheat tone called winter wheat. And then last fall, we finally got around to replacing the old blue carpet with wood laminate.

This is what our kitchen looked like, facing the living room.
**Sorry, I don't have better pictures of the floor.**

From moment we had our eye on this house, we dreamed of taking down the wall between the kitchen and living room. George had installed a breakfast bar in his parents' home many years ago and we wanted one for ourselves! After the wood laminte floor in October, George declared that was it for this year! No more projects!

Well imagine my surprise a few months later when he said he was ready to do it! I couldn't wait!!!

Here we are mid project! Notice the custom wine rack on the end, Georgie spent a lot of time designing and bulilding it for me!

Here is the final wine rack installed!

Now, time for the before and after!

Lulu likes it! :)
We are loving the open floor plan!
Georgie is also going to build me a small island, with shelves for cook books! I'll post it when we get to it!
What do you think?
